Tooth Extractions
When a tooth can’t be saved, a gentle extraction relieves pain and protects your other teeth. We make the process as comfortable and stress-free as possible — and plan ahead for replacing the tooth.

When an extraction is needed
We always try to save a natural tooth first — with a filling, crown or root canal. But sometimes removal is the healthiest choice: severe decay or infection, a tooth cracked beyond repair, advanced gum disease, or crowding. Removing a hopeless tooth protects your comfort and the teeth around it.

Comfortable, gentle care
We numb the area thoroughly so the procedure itself is painless, and for anxious patients or more involved cases we offer sedation. Most simple extractions are quick, and we’ll send you home with clear aftercare instructions for a smooth recovery.
Replacing the tooth
Leaving a gap can let other teeth drift, so we’ll talk through replacement options — a dental implant, bridge, or denture — whenever appropriate. Have a painful tooth right now? Our emergency team can often see you the same day.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Does a tooth extraction hurt?
The area is fully numbed, so you should feel pressure but not pain during the procedure. Mild soreness for a few days afterward is normal and easily managed, and sedation is available if you’re nervous.
How long is recovery after an extraction?
Most people feel much better within a few days. Following the post-op instructions — no straws or vigorous rinsing at first — helps you avoid a painful “dry socket.”
Should I replace an extracted tooth?
Usually, yes (except for wisdom teeth). A gap can let nearby teeth drift and affect your bite, so we’ll discuss implants, bridges or dentures when appropriate.
Is an extraction covered by insurance?
Medically necessary extractions are often covered in part. We accept most PPO and HMO plans plus Denti-Cal and Medi-Cal, and provide an estimate up front.
