Do your wisdom teeth need to come out?
Not always — a healthy, well-positioned wisdom tooth you can keep clean is fine to leave alone. Removal makes sense when they’re impacted, crowding other teeth, causing recurring infection, or impossible to clean. We monitor them with exams and X-rays and give you a straight answer.

Signs of trouble
- Aching or pressure at the back of the jaw
- Red, swollen gums behind your last molar
- A bad taste, odor, or recurring infection
- Difficulty opening wide or recurring soreness
Comfortable removal & recovery
Removal is often more straightforward in the teen and young-adult years, when roots aren’t fully formed. We offer sedation for a calm experience, and most people take it easy for just a few days. Swelling or pain with facial swelling? Our emergency team can help.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Do all wisdom teeth need to be removed?
No. If a wisdom tooth is healthy, properly positioned, biting correctly, and easy to clean, it can stay. We only recommend removal when there’s a real reason, confirmed with an exam and X-ray.
Is wisdom teeth removal painful?
The procedure is done with anesthesia, and sedation is available, so you’re comfortable throughout. Some swelling and soreness for a few days afterward is normal and manageable.
How long is recovery?
Most people return to school or work within a few days, with the sockets fully healing over a few weeks. Following post-op care helps you avoid dry socket.
Why is it easier to remove them when I’m younger?
In the teens and twenties the roots aren’t fully formed and the bone is more flexible, which generally makes removal and recovery more straightforward than later in life.
